A project I've always wanted to do is take and make the FW Abaddon more chaosy, though I don't feel like I did the project justice. I need to get green stuff and some tools and start practicing with that then maybe try this again down the line. Either way I now have a Abaddon I can use to lead a small force of Chosen I might eventually put together, and I'm happy with him even if he isn't the most chaosy abby on th tables/

Long week full of work and school but I got the new WD early and that makes it all better! With great news! a screenshot of one of the Elites section pages was in the WD and I could make out some of the prices. Base dreadnoughts are now 100 (down 5 points) which isn't a big deal, but Legion of the damned gained 2 new rules (Fear and incendiary rounds) and their base cost dropped 30 points plus they are 5 points cheaper per additional model. Sternguard and Vanguard also got a bit cheaper but not quite the drop LotD got. Also a lot of cool bits in this release. Lots of them....
Centurions! They've grown on me...
No codex supplement in this WD I think because Apoc gets one instead.
Necrons vs marines in this one mainly.
Special Edition covers!!!!
The strike force for people who just want to spend the
220, and get a full army. Not a bad deal, add in the spikeybits
20% off and you have a damn good deal. If this thing stays...
Plastic Chaplain from Reclusiarch/Command squad set
Plastic captain with combi-graviton gun
More of the captain
Plastic Librarian! Not a fan of the cyborg baby though.
More of the details
vanguard armour bits
Helmets and stuff from new tactical squad box! 3 beakies!
More centurion pics including graviton gun and grav amp.
Imperial Fist Assault centurions!
FW Erebus! Awesome model!
FW HH characters are worth it even if you don't play 30K.
WIP FW Kor Phaeron model, still a bit plain when
this was taken.

Well, some progress has been made on my MK-III marines, but I still don't have primer so until I get that I'm at a stand still. A few things I noticed about the MK-III Iron armour (40K version) versus the Legion MK-III armour, is that the extra armour plates on the forearm get in the way of the gun fitting on the hand. With the GW plastic bolters they were originally made for it's not so bad, but with FW Phobos bolters I have to cut out a small chunk of the back of the gun behind the grip to make it fit. While this doesn't look bad it's a bit of extra effort and makes me a little sad every time I did it. Secondly, the sternguard resin heavy bolter was not made to fit these guys arm sets, that took some work and a tiny amount of green stuff to figure out. I'm assuming a FW heresy era bolter would have fit no problem, but I had none on hand.
All the bits I showed the first time!
Assembly, they seem shorter the MK-VII marines from
GW, but I thought the same about the DK compared
Modified one of the bolters to have the combi-plasma
attachment for the Sergeant. Combi bit I cut off a
Finecast combi-plasma since I still wanted to use a
larger Phobos bolter.
Heads all on!
The arms on the Sergeant are assembled but they aren't
glued since I want to paint them first, they slide up and
off the body.
Comparison of FW's Iron armour to GW's old version
of it from way back when.
Old power plant and Phobos bolters compared to the
And on a not so unrelated note, Valthex has been redone for the Imperial Fist! There is a con next weekend with a 1400 point 40K tourney and I'm debating using him since his giving a whole squad hellfire bolts could prove useful. Also a Abaddon half of the Abaddon/Loken set I got off Ebay for a conversion should be here today. Going to make a better chaos abaddon using the pre heresy model since the old metal one is lame. (in my opinion) Going to take a lot of work though.

Short update today before I go to work, I just got my Valthex Master of the Forge and 10 MK-III marines with phobes pattern bolters. Valthex I figured would be a good HQ choice even with the new Space Marine codex coming out in 2-3 weeks. The MK-III marines are here to be stenguard since their armour style meshes well with the Cataphractii terminators and my chapter masters. Will probably be the last bunch of resin I get until some time after the new SM launch since I do really want some centurions.
Valthex! will have to bend the whips to the shape I
want other then that the model is mostly cleaned up
and ready to work on! I have a finecaste Imperial Fist
shoulder pad for him as well.
Mk-III marines, took a while to sort all the bits out,
and I still have a lot of cleaning to do on them, but
Hopefully that won't take me to much longer!
Sadly working on these guys may have to wait a day or to as I'm out of super glue and primer.... Sad day...

Finally got around to finish this guy for my friend. It's hard to do edge highlights when you don't have steady hands and you new to the whole concept. Also this guy has a lot of lines.... All in all he could use some touching up, for now he's ready to hit the table and kills some greenskins!
Also had to restrip the paint from my cataphractii terminators today. The spray can was being weird so they and Lysander had this weird texture to them when they were primed. It's bugged me for a long time and so I finally decided to fix it. But simple green is slow and break fluid is to harsh on resin, so I decided to try acetone free nail polish remover. This stuff worked in about 15 minutes I could scrub the model down and most of the paint was gone. Trade of is it smells nasty.
